As the Republican candidate for Colorado’s 7th Congressional District, my mission is to save the Republic.
My name is George Athanasopoulos. As a military officer, I have fought for the Republic my entire adult life. I will not stand by while everything that so many have fought for is destroyed. The hard truth is that we have a choice to make. Are we going to allow this destruction to continue or are we going to do something to stop it?
For me, the answer is simple. I am going to fight.
I will not allow my sons to be part of the first generation of Americans that is not expected to do as well as the one that came before. I refuse to allow our children to live in a world where countless threats from abroad jeopardize their safety within American borders. I reject the current administration’s economic choices that will ensure that the United States of America will share Greece’s economic fate.
For me, this campaign is about the legacy that I am going to leave for my sons. For the legacy that all of us in this generation will leave to the next.
It is true that I am the only person in this race who has never run for political office. I am also the only candidate who has not contributed to the government dysfunction we suffer today. Our government is broken. It is no longer a government for the people, it has become government beholden to the politicians, the corporatists, and those who profit from government.
I'm running to get real results for real people, for my children and yours.
How can we possibly trust the same politicians who got us into this mess in the first place? The answer is: we can’t. If they were going to make a positive difference, wouldn't he have done it already? It is time to chart a new course.
I’ve met thousands of Coloradans who share our frustration with politics as usual, but who also share our belief that, with the right leadership, our best days are still ahead. We can put past political failures behind us. We can leave our children a legacy of security and opportunity.
Now, I can’t promise that achieving these worthwhile goals will be easy. The entrenched interests that profit from government, and the officials who refuse to recognize the severity of the threats we face, will fight us every step of the way. I will not back down from a fight worth having. And, I fight to win.
I am asking all of you to fight with me, to sweat beside me, and win this race with me so that we, together, can save the Republic. Every day, I’ll ask you to go out and tell your friends and neighbors about this race. Tell them that we no longer have to settle for the same old tired, fake, fading leadership and its deplorable results. Every day, we must inform our friends that, in Colorado’s 7th Congressional District, we can dedicate ourselves to a higher purpose and we can serve a mission greater than ourselves.
Please join me on this mission. Let’s work together. Let’s build together. And, when we win, we will lead together. The battle will be hard, and we will endure attacks by the political profiteers and the stale politics of the incumbent party. But, it will be worth it. We cannot afford to fail. We must win. Our legacy to our children depends on it.
